Mission & Principles

Mission

Muldown staff is dedicated to helping students become life-long learners and responsible citizens.

Basic Principles

  • The best interests of the child are the basis for all decisions and actions.
  • Each child’s learning potential is recognized, with the belief that all children can learn.
  • The child is not viewed in isolation, but as part of a family which influences their learning.
  • The environment that the school provides is safe, nurturing, and one in which all children can be successful.
  • The school is an inclusive community, where each individual is valued and has access to all aspects of the school program.
  • Team process is part of effective decision making.
  • Instructional practices are guided by a shared philosophy which allows flexibility and balance within the total school program. The philosophy reflects examination and consideration of best practices.
  • All staff has the responsibility to improve their skills and knowledge. Administration has the responsibility to provide support in meeting this need for professional development.
